Two Day Borosilicate Class:

Gail Crosman Moore

maandag 25 en dinsdag 26 oktober

In this two day workshop we will explore and celebrate the unpredictability of borosilicate glass. Through the use of layering and fuel ratio we will discover some of the limitless possibilities in using this fine material.

Day one will include working through a package of some of the reducing rods to get a feel for what happens when we alter the fuel environment to familiarize students with the wonderful properties of this glass, using this knowledge to create a working palette. Striking in the flame and in the kiln will be covered. Included will be stringer use, frits and press molds.

Day two we will ‘zero in’ on personal vision, considering form and palette. Students should bring sources of inspiration as well as samples of work they would like to expand on and any personal tools and ideas that will make their time more productive.

One Day Borosilicate Class:

woensdag 27 oktober

In this one day long workshop we will gleen a taste for the unpredictability of borosilicate glass. Through the use of layering and fuel ratio we will discover some of the limitless possibilities in using this fine material.

We will work through several colors of Northstar Borosilicate, becoming familiar with some of the ‘magic colors’ that we can alter through fuel composition, the order in which we layer color and whether or not things are covered in clear.

This one day class has been designed to give the participant a little glimpse into the similarities and differences between soft and hard glass and to try out several colors, using each other to see the many varied and different results that are achieved using the same colors.
